Camp Kef (Grades K-7) June 19 - August 4

Camp Kef, which means "fun" in Hebrew, is a variety Day Camp that will provide an array of activities and experiences led by our dynamic counselors. Each week there will be a variety of special activities at Camp VBS, including a Super Shabbat Celebration. Download the Brochure for VBS Camps 2017.

  • On-Site Swimming Pool & Indoor Gym

    Free swim during camp hours! Campers will swim in our full size pool, supervised by certified WSI lifeguards and instructors.

    Campers will also enjoy a summer of fun playing basketball, volleyball, and sports galore in our indoor sports facility, The Shalom Dome.

    Campers must bring a dairy sack lunch each day except on Fridays. Lunch will be provided every Friday.

    Camp Kef and Specialty Camps will participate in weekly field trips every THURSDAY. On field trip days, please bring a dairy sack lunch.

    *Please note: 4th-7th grade field trips to Hurricane Harbor and Knotts Berry Farm will end at 5:00PM on these days.

    Camp Kef's Specialty Camps For Summer 2017
    (2nd - 7th grades only)

    Invention Convention Grades 2nd - 7th: Week 1 (6/19 - 6/23)
    Invent something for good. Use tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, circuits, LED’s, and hand tools to invent something that makes the world a better place. We will learn 3D Modeling basics, Lego EV3 coding, Circuits and Little Bits.
    Cardboard Arcade Grades 2nd - 7th: Week 2 (6/26 - 6/30)
    Design your very own video game. Code the game with Scratch and make it interactive with Makey Makey. Learn how to use copper tape and cardboard to make your very own characters move on the screen.
    Culinary Kids Academy "CHOPPED!" Grades 2nd - 7th: Week 1 & Week 2 (6/19 - 6/30)
    CKA empowers campers through its incredibly fun workshops! Our 2nd-7th grade classes integrate academics, Judaic Study and nutrition into phenomenally delicious cooking lessons! Students have no idea they're learning because they're having a blast cooking! In addition, campers will also get to play CKA's take on the Food Network’s popular competition cooking show, “CHOPPED!” With this new addition to our curriculum, students will take the skills they’ve learned in class and actually get to creatively and independently apply them. Camp cookbook and chef apron included!
    Maker Shop Sphero Mini Golf Grades 2nd - 7th: Week 6 (7/24 - 7-28):
    Create and compete in our very own mini golf course. 3D model, print, laser cut and design course obstacles. Code a Sphero ball to get to the hole under par. With all of innovation lab tools at our hands, the sky's the limit.
    Robotics Grades 2nd - 7th: Week 7 (7/31 - 8/4)
    Code Sphero bots and build Lego robots for the FIRST Lego League competition. Learn engineering and coding fundamentals to guide your robot autonomously to complete missions.

    *Please note: All specialty camps are weekly options only, they do include the field trip on the Thursday of that week.
  • Overnight at Camp Ramah: July 11-12 (Grades 3-6)

    Join friends from Camp VBS for "A day in the life of a Ramah camper" on Sunday, July 23 through Monday, July 24. Campers will spend the day participating in a variety of Camp Ramah programs including arts and crafts, sports, Israeli dance, swimming, water slides and will have an overnight in the Camp Ramah Tree House.

    Cost: $150 including meals and transportation

  • Pre-Season Sports Camp

    Pre-Season Sports Camp - Grades K-6
    Dates:  August 14 - 18  •  August 21 - 25

    Choose either:
    Half Day: 9AM - 12PM
    Full day: 9AM - 5PM (12PM - 5PM Becomes After Care) 

    Grade 3-6 boys will focus on flag football
    Grade 3-6 girls will focus on basketball
    Grades K-2 will play various sports

    Students should bring a dairy/parve sack lunch. Snacks will be provided. 

    Cost: Half Day is $250/week or $70 per day and Full Day is $400/week or $100 per day.

    Drop off available beginning at 8AM for no extra fee and after care will be available from 12PM-5PM for full day options.

  • CIT Leadership & Social Action Program (Grades 8-9)

    The  Camp VBS CIT Leadership & Social Action Program is designed to foster leadership skills for youth entering grades 8 and 9. Counselors-in-training will participate in leadership training, and gain hand-on experience assisting Camp Kef campers. As part of the leadership training, CITs will actively participate in a weekly social action project. 

    CIT applications must be received by May 5, 2017. 

    Cost: The CIT program is $200 per week and CITs will be awarded community service hours.

  • Junior Counselors (Grades 10-12)

    Junior counselor opportunities are available for students entering grades 10-12. Junior Counselors will receive community service credit as well as a stipend. Apply online for a Junior Counselor position by Friday, May 12. If you have any questions, please contact Rabbi Avi (

    Welcome to a fun-filled summer at Camp Shelanu! Our camp is an exciting, enriching experience, designed for preschoolers. All our activities are created exclusively for 2 1/2-5 year old campers in a safe, supervised atmosphere.     • Shira (Music) - Camp wide sing-a-long filled with fun, laughter and Ruach!! (spirit)

  • Camp Shelanu CIT Program (Ages 12-18)

    Camp Shelanu offers a CIT program for youths 12-18 years of age. CITs will assist in activities, gain valuable and job training experience, enjoy social interaction with their peers and have the opportunity to plan camp activities. Participants will also receive community service hours. 

    Cost: $150/week or $25/day.
