Camp Kef (Grades K-6) June 18 - August 3

Camp Kef, which means "fun" in Hebrew, is a variety Day Camp that will provide an array of activities and experiences led by our dynamic counselors. Each week there will be a variety of special activities at Camp VBS, including a Super Shabbat Celebration. Download the Brochure for VBS Camps 2018.

  • On-Site Swimming Pool & Indoor Gym

    Free swim during camp hours! Campers will swim in our full size pool, supervised by certified WSI lifeguards and instructors.

    Campers will also enjoy a summer of fun playing basketball, volleyball, and sports galore in our indoor sports facility, The Shalom Dome.

    Campers must bring a dairy sack lunch each day except on Fridays. Lunch will be provided every Friday.

    Camp Kef's Specialty Camps For Summer 2018
    (2nd - 6th grades only)

    Invention Convention Grades 2nd - 6th: Week 1 (6/18 - 6/22)
    Invent something for good. Use tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, circuits, LED’s, and hand tools to invent something that makes the world a better place. We will learn 3D Modeling basics, Lego EV3 coding, Circuits and Little Bits.
    Basketball Grades 2nd - 6th: Week 1 (6/18 - 6/22), Week 4 and 5 (7/9-7/20)
    The Camp Kef Basketball specialty camp is a high-intensity, drill based camp that focuses on not only bettering our players skill sets on the court but also building character and confidence off the court. Our camp will strengthen your athletes mentality while boosting their confidence to become more skilled players. Our camp provides a focused, fun learning environment that cannot be rivaled!
    Minecraft Grades 2nd-6th: Week 2 (6/25-6/29)
    Use creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking to design worlds and experiment with coding basics and world design in Minecraft.

    Ceramics Grades 2nd - 6th: Week 2 (6/25-6/29)
    Children will work on ceramic projects which use their imagination and develop their creativity, while building their self confidence. With an experienced and caring teacher, the campers will learn different techniques for making projects out of clay and learn how to decorate, paint, and personalize their artwork. No experience necessary!

    Culinary Kids Academy "CHOPPED!" Grades 2nd - 6th: Week 4 & Week 5 (6/19 - 6/30)
    CKA empowers campers through its incredibly fun workshops! Our 2nd-6th grade classes integrate academics, Judaic Study and nutrition into phenomenally delicious cooking lessons! Students have no idea they're learning because they're having a blast cooking! In addition, campers will also get to play CKA's take on the Food Network’s popular competition cooking show, “CHOPPED!” With this new addition to our curriculum, students will take the skills they’ve learned in class and actually get to creatively and independently apply them. Camp cookbook and chef apron included!

    Game Design Grades 2nd - 6th: Week 6 (7/23-7/27)
    Create your own games using scratch and make them interactive with Makey-Makey. Experienced game designers will be able to explore Unity to design 3D games and environments to be experienced in Virtual Reality.

    Theatre Arts Grades 2nd - 6th: Week 6 and 7 (7/23-8/3)
    Have you ever wanted to perform songs from Broadway musicals? Well, this is your chance! We welcome actors of all skill levels from novices to seasoned performers alike. All you need is a desire to learn and have fun in a nurturing and safe environment. Camp Kef is proud to offer a two week musical theatre workshop that will culminate with a musical revue for parents and campers to enjoy. Campers will perform songs such as You Can’t Stop the Beat from Hairspray, We Go Together from Grease, and Dancing Through Life from Wicked (to name a few) in two or three group numbers and then will have the opportunity to perform solo numbers, duets, and small groups. We look forward to bringing Broadway to Camp Kef! Theatre Arts is a 2 week camp, must register for both weeks.
    Robotics Grades 2nd - 6th: Week 7 (7/30 - 8/3)
    Code Sphero bots and build Lego robots for the FIRST Lego League competition. Learn engineering and coding fundamentals to guide your robot autonomously to complete missions.

    *Please note: All specialty camps are weekly options only. They do include the field trip on the Thursday of that week.
  • Overnight at Camp Ramah: Grades 3-6 (Date TBD)

    Join friends from Camp VBS for "A day in the life of a Ramah camper." Campers will spend the day participating in a variety of Camp Ramah programs including arts and crafts, sports, Israeli dance, swimming, water slides and will have an overnight in the Camp Ramah Tree House.

  • Pre-Season Sports Camp

    Pre-Season Sports Camp - Grades K-6
    Dates:  August 13 - 24  

    Choose either:
    Half Day: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
    Full day: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (12:00 PM - 5:00 PM Becomes After Care) 

    Grade 3-6 boys will focus on flag football skills
    Grade 3-6 girls will focus on basketball skills
    Grades K-2 campers will play various sports

    Students should bring a dairy/parve sack lunch. Snacks will be provided. 

    Cost: Half Day is $250/week or $70 per day and Full Day is $400/week or $100 per day.

    Drop off available beginning at 8:00 AM for no extra fee and after care will be available from 12:00 PM-5:00 PM for full day options.

  • CIT Leadership Program (Grades 8-9)

    The  Camp VBS CIT Leadership Program is designed to foster leadership skills for youth entering grades 8 and 9. Counselors-in-Training will participate in leadership training, and gain hands-on experience assisting Camp Kef campers. As part of the leadership training, CITs will actively participate in a weekly social action project. 

    CIT applications must be received by May 11, 2018. 

    Cost: The CIT program is $200 per week, and CITs will be awarded community service hours.

  • Junior Counselors (Grades 10-12)

    Junior counselor opportunities are available for students entering grades 10-12. Junior Counselors will receive community service credit as well as a stipend. Apply online for a Junior Counselor position by Friday, May 11. If you have any questions, please contact Rabbi Avi (

    Welcome to a fun-filled summer at Camp Shelanu! Our camp is an exciting, enriching experience, designed for preschoolers. All our activities are created exclusively for 2-5 year old campers in a safe, supervised atmosphere.   • Camp Shelanu CIT Program (Ages 12-18)

    Camp Shelanu offers a CIT program for youths 12-18 years of age. CITs will assist in activities, gain valuable leadership and job training experience, enjoy social interaction with their peers, and have the opportunity to plan camp activities.
