After School Athletics Program
At VBS Day School, we believe athletics is an essential part of a well-rounded education. Our program helps student-athletes grow in teamwork, leadership, perseverance, humility, and commitment. While we enjoy healthy competition, our primary goals are development, participation, and sportsmanship.
In our program, student athletes of all levels are encouraged to participate as it promotes leadership skills, team building, sportsmanship, personal pride and confidence. VBSDS Athletics focuses on inclusive participation and personal growth over just winning. We value the journey—how we play, how we treat one another, and how we grow as individuals and as a team. Sportsmanship means showing respect—for your teammates, your opponents, referees, coaches, and families. Remember: opponents are partners in competition, not enemies, no matter the result. VBSDS distinguishes itself with its unparalleled participation of over 98% and many championship teams. As a result, the athletic program is an integral part of our school culture.

VBS Day School is a prominent member of the San Fernando Valley Private School League (SFVPSL), consisting of 42 private schools in the greater San Fernando Valley area. Students in Grades 4th-6th compete in a variety of sports organized by athletic ability and grade level. At VBS Day School, we invite our 3rd grade students to "play up" and compete in the 4th Grade Division of the SFVPSL, allowing them to get a jump on developing their skills and confidence.
